Tabaré Hackenbruch (born November 26, 1928 – died June 19, 2017) was an important politician from Uruguay. He was born in a city called Canelones.
Tabaré Hackenbruch was a member of the Colorado Party. This was one of the main political groups in Uruguay. He began his work in politics by helping Tomás Berreta become president. He also worked at a newspaper called Acción with another future president, Julio María Sanguinetti.
His Work as a Mayor
Tabaré Hackenbruch was chosen to be the Mayor of the Canelones Department. A mayor is like the leader of a city or region. The Canelones Department is a large area in Uruguay.
He served as mayor for three different periods:
- 1985 to 1990
- 1995 to 2000
- 2000 to 2005
In the election of 2000, he received help from politicians in another big group, the National Party. This showed that he had support from different parts of the political world.
