Tachyporus is a group of small insects. They are a type of rove beetle. These beetles belong to a larger family called Staphylinidae.
About Tachyporus Beetles
Tachyporus beetles are part of a specific group within the rove beetle family. This group is known as the tribe Tachyporini. Tachyporus is very important because it is the main example for both the tribe Tachyporini and the subfamily Tachyporinae.
These beetles are usually quite small. The images show that they are about 4 millimeters long. That's less than half a centimeter!
Where Tachyporus Beetles Live
Scientists keep track of different animal species around the world. The Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) is a huge database for this. It has records for 40 different kinds of Tachyporus beetles.
Most of the information about these beetles comes from Europe. However, they are also found in many other places. Records show that Tachyporus beetles live in North America, Africa, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. This means they are spread across many different continents.
