Taghreed Najjar (Arabic: تغريد النجار) is a famous writer and publisher from Palestine and Jordan. She was born on September 28, 1951. Taghreed Najjar has written over 50 books for children and young adults in Arabic. Many of her books have been translated into other languages, like English, Swedish, Turkish, and French. She also started her own publishing company called Al Salwa Publishing House. Over the years, Taghreed Najjar has won several important awards for her writing. She is also a member of the Jordanian Writer's Association.

Her Journey as a Writer

Taghreed Najjar was born in Jordan. She studied English Language and Education at the American University of Beirut, graduating in 1973. After college, she worked as an English teacher.

Her first children's book, Safwan the Acrobat, was published in 1977. Since then, she has written more than 65 books for young readers. Many people see her as a leader in modern children's literature in Jordan.

Awards and Recognition

Taghreed Najjar's books have received many honors. Her book Hawk Eye Mystery was a finalist for the Etisalat Award for Arabic Children's Literature in 2014. In the same year, her story Raghda's Hat was a finalist for the Sheikh Zayed Book Award. In 2019, she was nominated for the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award, which is a very big award for children's literature.

Her books are popular around the world. They have been translated into Turkish, English, Swedish, French, and Chinese. Taghreed Najjar also attends many international events and festivals, like the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature in 2018.
