Tahquitz Falls is a beautiful waterfall located in Palm Springs, a city in the U.S. state of California. This amazing waterfall is found in a place called Tahquitz Canyon, not too far from the visitor center. The canyon and the waterfall are named after Tahquitz, a special spirit from the stories of the Cahuilla Native American people.

What is Tahquitz Falls?

Tahquitz Falls is about 60 feet (18 m) tall, which is like a six-story building! The water flows over a large, flat rock made of granite before it drops into a pool below. A part of the canyon wall splits the waterfall into two sections as it falls. This special area, including Tahquitz Falls, is so important that it's listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

How to Visit Tahquitz Falls

It's easy to reach Tahquitz Falls by walking along the Tahquitz Canyon Trail. This trail goes uphill about 350 feet (110 m), which is like climbing a 35-story building! The path goes past the waterfall and then loops around, bringing you back to the waterfall and the Visitor Center. The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians own and take care of both the canyon and its trails.
