Takayuki Odajima was born in Chigasaki, Japan. After studying at Chuo University, he started playing football professionally.
Starting with Montedio Yamagata
In 2000, he joined Montedio Yamagata, a team in the J2 League. The J2 League is a professional football league in Japan. He played many games as a center back during his first year. A center back is a defender who plays in the middle of the field. However, he did not play in any matches in 2001.
Moving to Thespa Kusatsu
In 2002, Takayuki Odajima moved to Thespa Kusatsu. This club was in the Japanese Prefectural Leagues, which is a lower level of football in Japan. He played a lot for Thespa Kusatsu. The team did very well and moved up to higher leagues.
They were promoted to the Japanese Regional Leagues in 2003. This meant they moved up to a higher division. Then, in 2004, they moved up again to the Japan Football League. Finally, in 2005, Thespa Kusatsu reached the J2 League. This was the same league Montedio Yamagata was in. Takayuki Odajima played his last season in 2005 and then retired from football.
