Takeru Satoh (佐藤 健, Satō Takeru, born 21 March 1989) is a famous Japanese actor. He is well-known for playing Ryotaro Nogami in the Kamen Rider Den-O series. He also played Himura Kenshin in the live-action Rurouni Kenshin movies.
Takeru Satoh was born on March 21, 1989, in Saitama, Japan. When he was younger, he acted in commercials and magazines for a few years. But he stopped acting as a child because he felt a bit shy. He finished high school in 2007. That same year, while filming Kamen Rider Den-O, he had a lung issue called pneumothorax, but he got better.

Takeru Satoh's Acting Career
Early Acting Roles (2006–2008)
Takeru Satoh was discovered by an agent in Tokyo when he was in high school. He started his acting career in 2006. His first TV show was Princess Princess D, where he played Toru Kouno.
In 2007, he appeared in Shinigami no Ballad. He became very popular for his role as Ryotaro Nogami in the Kamen Rider series. Satoh believes Den-O became popular because of its funny parts.
Becoming a Star (2009–2011)
After Kamen Rider Den-O became a big hit, Satoh starred in the TV show Rookies in 2008. He played Yuya Okada, a member of a high school baseball team. Satoh felt this role helped him become more famous. This was because Rookies was shown during prime time, reaching many more people. He also appeared in the Rookies movie in 2009.
Satoh played Ryotaro (Den-O) again in the third Kamen Rider Den-O movie in 2008. He also starred in the drama Bloody Monday, which was based on a popular manga.
Over the next two years, Satoh acted in many TV shows and movies. These included Mei's Butler, Mr. Brain, and the film Beck. In 2010, he played Okada Izō in his first historical drama, Ryōmaden. He also got his first main role in a prime time TV show called Q10.
In 2011, it was announced that he would play Himura Kenshin. This was for a live-action movie based on the famous manga series Rurouni Kenshin.
Rurouni Kenshin and Beyond (2012–Present)
The Rurouni Kenshin movie came out in August 2012. It earned a lot of money at the box office. In May 2012, Satoh also performed on stage for the first time. He played Romeo in the Japanese version of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.
His next project was Tonbi, a drama series based on a novel. He then starred in Real, a science fiction mystery movie. He also played a lead role in The Liar and His Lover. This film was based on the manga Kanojo wa Uso o Aishisugiteru.
In 2014, Satoh played a new detective in the TV show Bitter Blood. He returned as Himura Kenshin in two more Rurouni Kenshin movies. These were Kyoto Inferno and The Legend Ends, both released in 2014. The original Rurouni Kenshin manga creator, Nobuhiro Watsuki, praised Satoh's acting. He said Satoh was the perfect actor for Kenshin.
In 2015, he starred in the popular TV series The Emperor's Cook. He then appeared in three films in 2015 and 2016. These included Bakuman and If Cats Disappeared from the World. His role in the 2017 film The 8-Year Engagement earned him a nomination for best actor. In 2018, he starred in two award-winning TV series: Hanbun, Aoi and Stepmom and Daughter Blues. That same year, he played Ryotaro Nogami again in the last Kamen Rider movie of the Heisei period.
In 2018, it was announced that two more Rurouni Kenshin movies would be made. These would be a prequel and a sequel to the first three films. Satoh would play the main role again. Filming finished in June 2019, and the movies were shown in 2021.
In 2021, Satoh, along with the band One Ok Rock and actor Ryunosuke Kamiki, left their agency. They started a new agency called “Co-LaVo” with Ryunosuke Kamiki.
Personal Life
Takeru Satoh has a younger sister. His parents divorced when he was in middle school. He played baseball when he was in primary and middle school. He also has a black belt in Shorinji Kempo, which is a Japanese martial art.
