Takeshi Urakami (浦上 壮史, Urakami Takeshi, born 7 February 1969) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a goalkeeper for several teams during his career.

Takeshi Urakami's Football Journey

Takeshi Urakami was born in Kunitachi, Tokyo, on February 7, 1969. After finishing high school, he joined a football club called Nissan Motors in 1988. This team later became known as Yokohama Marinos.

He started in the reserve team and joined the main team in 1990. However, it was tough for him to play many games. This was because a famous national team player, Shigetatsu Matsunaga, was also a goalkeeper there.

In 1995, Takeshi Urakami moved to another team, Shimizu S-Pulse. Here, he also found it hard to get much playing time. Another strong goalkeeper, Masanori Sanada, was ahead of him.

Becoming a Regular Player

In 1997, he made a big move to Japan Football League club Kawasaki Frontale. This move was a turning point for him. He finally became a regular player, meaning he played in most of the team's games.

With Takeshi Urakami as their goalkeeper, Kawasaki Frontale had great success. The club was promoted to the J2 League in 1999. Then, in 2000, they moved up again to the top league, the J1 League.

Later Career and Retirement

In 2001, the team was relegated back to J2 League. From 2003, Takeshi Urakami started to lose his regular spot. Another player named Shinya Yoshihara became the main goalkeeper.

Takeshi Urakami played his last season in 2004. He then retired from professional football at the end of that year.
