Talia Hibbert (born in 1995 or 1996) is a British writer who creates romance novels. She writes stories that are set in modern times (called contemporary romance) and also stories with magic or supernatural elements (called paranormal romance). People who review her books say she writes about many different kinds of characters. Her characters come from various backgrounds, have different body shapes, and unique life experiences. She is most famous for her book Get a Life, Chloe Brown, which came out in 2019.

Early Life and Education

Talia Hibbert's mother is half Roma and half from Sierra Leone. Her father's family came from Jamaica as part of the Windrush generation, a group of people who moved to Britain after World War II.

Talia went to the University of Leicester. During her last year there, she decided she wanted to become a professional writer.

Her Writing Career

When Talia was a child, some people didn't support her dream of becoming a writer. But she didn't give up! She used money she inherited from her great-grandmother to help start her writing career.

She began publishing her own books in 2017. In that first year, she released ten books! Her first book published by a traditional company, Get a Life, Chloe Brown, was released in 2019 by Avon Romance. This book is the first in a series about a family.

Stories and Characters

Many of Talia Hibbert's characters are part of what's called the #OwnVoices movement. This means the author shares a similar background or experience with their character. For example, many of her main characters are black women.

In her book Get a Life, Chloe Brown, the main character lives with chronic pain, which means she has pain that lasts a long time. In another book, A Girl Like Her, the main character, Ruth, is autistic. This means she has a different way of thinking and interacting with the world. The third book in The Brown Sisters series, Act Your Age, Eve Brown, also features two main characters who are autistic.

Talia Hibbert also makes sure her stories include characters with many different body types. She has said it's very important to her to show that all kinds of people are attractive and deserve happy endings in romance stories.

In Get a Life, Chloe Brown, Talia shows how chronic pain can affect family and romantic relationships. But because it's a romance novel, it also shows that someone with chronic pain can find and have a loving relationship. The book explores how people can feel more in control of their lives, even when dealing with illness.

Talia's books also show a modern trend in romance stories. They often include clear agreement between characters before intimate scenes. In her book Work For It, one of the main characters deals with finding love while also living with depression.

Personal Life

For a long time, Talia Hibbert had health problems that doctors couldn't figure out. Eventually, she was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, a condition that causes widespread pain and tiredness. Her experiences with doctors helped inspire the topic of medical challenges in Get a Life, Chloe Brown.

Talia Hibbert is autistic.
