She is famous for being one of the three members of the R&B music group Sisters with Voices, also known as SWV. Taj also appeared on the TV show Survivor in its eighteenth season, called Survivor: Tocantins.

Growing Up and School

Tamara Antrice Johnson was born in Brooklyn, New York, on April 29, 1971. She was the youngest of six children in her family. Her father passed away when she was nine years old.

Tamara went to high school and then studied accounting at Baruch College. She later left college to join the singing group Sisters With Voices, which became known as SWV.

Joining the Group SWV

Tamara Johnson-George joined SWV, which was first called Female Edition. She was asked to join by Cheryl "Coko" Gamble, who became the lead singer of SWV. Taj was very shy when she first auditioned. She was known for being a background dancer and model in music videos. She also had a very happy and energetic personality.

Taj's Role in SWV Music

Originally, Taj was both a singer and a rapper for the group. You can hear her rapping in songs like Right Here and I'm So Into You. She was also the main female singer on the song Blak Pudd'n. Taj helped write many SWV songs. These include Right Here from their first album, It's About Time. She also co-wrote You're the One.

After 1996, Taj stopped rapping and started singing lead parts in songs. Some of these songs were It's All About U and Give It Up. She also sang co-lead parts in songs like Lose My Cool and Use Your Heart. The group SWV sold over 30 million albums. This made them one of the best-selling girl groups ever.

Life After SWV

After SWV officially stopped performing together in 1998, Taj signed a two-year contract. This contract was with the Ford Modeling Agency. After her modeling contract ended, Taj started dating Tennessee Titans running back Eddie George. They had met at a shopping mall in 1994.

In 2000, Taj wrote a part for the book Souls of My Sisters. This book shared stories from Black women.

Education and Family Life

In 2002, Taj went back to school at Belmont University in Nashville. She earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in May 2004. The next month, Taj married Eddie George in Rockleigh, New Jersey. She then added his last name to hers. Their son, Eriq Michael George, was born in 2005. Taj is also a stepmother to Eddie's older son, Jaire David. She also is the godmother to Coko's oldest son, Jazz.

Books and TV Shows

In 2007, Taj wrote a book called Player hateHER. She wrote it with Katrina Chambers. That same year, Taj and her husband Eddie George starred in a reality TV show. The show was called I Married a Baller. It showed five weeks of their life at home. The show also focused on Taj's efforts to lose weight after having her baby. SWV even got back together to sing the theme song for the show. The show also highlighted a charity called Visions with Infinite Possibilities. This charity helps people who have experienced domestic violence and their children.

Competing on Survivor

Taj was asked to be on the TV show Survivor. The show was looking for wives of NFL players. Before being on the show, Taj had never watched Survivor. She also could not swim or fish. However, she became one of the strongest players that season. Fans even voted her as a favorite contestant.

Taj made it far in the game. She was one of only four people from her original team, Jalapao, to make it to the merge. She was also the only woman from her team to reach this stage. In the final episode, Taj was voted out by her team. She finished in fourth place. She then became a member of the jury. The jury votes for the winner of the show. Taj voted for J.T., who won the season.
