Rahem Ross Brown (born March 20, 1970 – died November 6, 2022), known as Tame One, was an American hip hop artist. He was also a talented graffiti artist from New Jersey. Tame One was part of several music groups. These included Artifacts, Leak Bros, and the hip-hop supergroup The Weathermen.
Tame One's Music Journey
Tame One started his music career as half of the rap duo Artifacts. His partner was El Da Sensei. Their first album, Between a Rock and a Hard Place, came out in 1994. This album celebrated graffiti art. They released another album, That's Them, in 1997.
Solo Albums and Collaborations
Tame One released two albums with Artifacts. He also put out eight solo albums and six mixtapes. He worked with other artists on five collaboration albums. One was with Cage as Leak Bros, called Waterworld. Another was with Del the Funky Homosapien called Parallel Uni-verses. He also made "The Revolution" album with Dro Pesci and Nick Jackelson.
Tame One worked with many famous artists. These include Aesop Rock, El-P, DJ Mr. Len, and Mos Def. In 2002, he joined the underground supergroup The Weathermen. This group was started by Cage and El-P. In the same year, Tame One released his first solo album, When Rappers Attack. His second solo album, O.G. Bobby Johnson, came out in 2005. In 2006, he released Slow ... Stimulus with the Dusted Dons.
Later Projects and Posthumous Releases
In 2009, Tame One released a music video for his song "Anxiety Attacks". He also worked with rapper Dro Pesci on an album called "The Revolution". This album has not been released yet. He later released an EP (a short album) called Hell or High Water.
Before he passed away, Tame One worked on an Artifacts reunion album. It was called No Expiration Date and came out in 2022. After his death, new music was still released. In 2024, the production team Parallel Thought released Acid Tab Vocab and "'Old Jersey ...'". They also released Spazmatic with Xing and Fox. Also in 2024, Young Zee released "Burn Out". Division East Records re-released Tame One's album The Grudge.
Tame One's Life
Tame One was the first cousin of the famous rapper Redman. He was also part of several graffiti crews. These included FC CREW (Fame City / First Class Crew) and Boom Skwad Crew. He also belonged to LTD (Local Transit Destroyers). Tame One created graffiti pieces, murals, and painted subway trains. He often worked with his brother, Maliq Griffin. Tame One passed away on November 6, 2022, at the age of 52, due to serious health problems.
