After retiring as a player, he became a coach. He is currently a senior striker coach for Briobecca Urayasu, a club in the Japan Football League.
Playing Career
Taro Hasegawa started his football journey in Adachi, Tokyo. He was born there on August 17, 1979. He joined the youth team of Kashiwa Reysol in 1995.
In 1998, he moved up to the main team of Kashiwa Reysol. This team played in the J1 League, which is Japan's top football league. He played his first game on March 28 against Consadole Sapporo.
The year 1999 was a good one for Hasegawa and Kashiwa Reysol. He played more often, and his team won the J.League Cup championship. However, after 2000, he didn't play as much for the club.
In 2002, he moved to Albirex Niigata, a team in the J2 League (Japan's second-tier league). He still didn't get much playing time there.
A big change happened in 2003 when he joined Ventforet Kofu, another J2 League club. He didn't play much in 2003 and 2004. But in 2005, he became a key player. He played in every match as a left winger and scored 17 goals! His strong performance helped Ventforet Kofu finish third. This meant they were promoted to the J1 League in 2006.
Even though his team was promoted, Hasegawa didn't play as much in the J1 League in 2006. In August 2007, he moved to Tokushima Vortis in the J2 League. There, he played in all matches as a regular player.
In 2008, he joined Yokohama FC, another J2 League team. Again, he didn't play very often.
From 2009, he played for New Wave Kitakyushu (which later became Giravanz Kitakyushu) in the Japan Football League. He was a regular player for them. His efforts helped the club get promoted to the J2 League in 2010.
After that, he played for Urayasu SC starting in 2011. In 2014, he moved to an Indian club called Mohammedan. Taro Hasegawa officially retired from playing football in December 2014.
