Adachi (足立区, Adachi-ku) is one of the 23 special wards that make up the big city of Tokyo, Japan. It's like a city within a city! In English, the local government calls itself "Adachi City." As of May 1, 2015, about 692,707 people lived there. The mayor of Adachi is Yayoi Kondo, who has been in charge since June 2007. Adachi covers an area of 53.25 square kilometers (about 20.56 square miles).
Where is Adachi Located?
Adachi is found in the northern part of Tokyo. It shares its borders with a few other places. To the south, it's next to Arakawa. On its western side, you'll find Kita. The northern border of Adachi touches Saitama Prefecture. To the east, Adachi is next to Katsushika.
Nature in Adachi
Adachi has some beautiful natural symbols. Its official tree is the Cherry Blossom, famous for its lovely pink flowers in spring. The official flower of Adachi is the Tulip, known for its bright and colorful petals.
