Tarrazú is a special area in Costa Rica, like a county or district. It's the fifth canton in the San José region. This area covers about 297.5 square kilometers. The main town and capital of Tarrazú is San Marcos.

History of Tarrazú
Tarrazú was officially created on August 7, 1868. This means it has been an important part of Costa Rica for over 150 years!
Who Leads Tarrazú?
The person in charge of Tarrazú is called the Mayor. From 2010 to 2016, the Mayor was Iván Suárez Sandí. He was part of a political group called the PLN.
