Tasman Keith facts for kids
Tasman Keith is an Australian rapper, singer, and songwriter. He is known for his unique music style and powerful lyrics.
Growing Up and Early Life
Tasman Keith is a Gumbaynggirr man. His family comes from a place called Bowraville, New South Wales in Australia.
When Tasman was seven years old, his family moved to Sydney. They moved because his father, who was also a rapper named Wire MC, was pursuing his music career. Tasman shared that he was already performing on stage at festivals by the age of eight! When he was 14, his family decided to move back to Bowraville.
Music Career Journey
Starting Out: 2016 to 2020
In 2016, Tasman Keith began sharing his music on Triple J Unearthed. This is a platform where new artists can get discovered. In 2017, he released his first official song, "Might Snap." This song was played on many community radio stations and got great reviews.
Soon after, Tasman worked with producer James Mangohig and Nooky from Bad Apples Music. Together, they started creating his first collection of songs, called an EP.
In 2018, his first EP, Mission Famous, was released. It was recorded at Skinnyfish Music's Studio G. The title song from the EP was highlighted as a top new track by Triple J.
In 2019, Tasman teamed up with another artist, Stevie Jean. They recorded an EP together called Evenings. In November of that year, he released "Billy Bad Again." He said this song came from a studio session where he was trying too hard to write many songs. His producers helped him relax, and then they found a beat that felt "aggressive yet confident." The song is about being confident and showing off his skills through music. In 2020, the music video for "Billy Bad Again" won the Australian Video of the Year award at the J Awards of 2020.
In December 2020, he released another EP titled To Whom It May Concern.
First Album: A Colour Undone
In February 2022, Tasman Keith announced his first full-length album, A Colour Undone. He also released a new song from the album called "Love Too Soon." The album was released on July 8, 2022. It was a big step in his music career.
