Tawachiche West River
Location in Quebec

The Tawachiche West River is a beautiful river in Quebec, Canada. It flows through the area of Lac-aux-Sables. This river is part of the larger Batiscanie region. The water in the Tawachiche West River flows from the northwest to the southeast. It eventually joins the Tawachiche River.

This river is surrounded by forests. During the colder months, from November to April, the river usually freezes over. When spring arrives, the ice melts, and the river's water level rises.

For a long time, cutting down trees (logging) was a very important activity here. Today, people mostly visit the area for fun outdoor activities. You can go camping, stay at resorts, or enjoy hunting and fishing. Many people also like hiking, riding all-terrain vehicles, or snowmobiling.

Exploring the Tawachiche West River

The Tawachiche West River starts at Lake Masketsi (Mékinac). From there, its water flows into a smaller lake called Little Lake Masketsi. After that, the water continues into Lake Auguste. As the river flows, it collects water from other lakes like Boileau Lake and Vieillotte Lake.

Where the River Meets Another

The end of the Tawachiche West River is called its mouth. This spot is close to the office for the ZEC Tawachiche area. It's also not far from where the old Audy train station used to be. Long ago, there was a sawmill nearby, which used the river's resources.

Following the River's Path

There's a road called Tawachiche West Road that generally follows the river's path. If you travel up the road, you'll pass by several lakes. These include Lake Auguste, Little Lake Masketsi, and Lake Masketsi (Mékinac). The road also goes near Lake Roberge, Lake Narcisse, and Lake Faber.

After Lake Faber, the Tawachiche West Road connects to another road. This other road leads to Lake Price. Along this branch, you can find lakes like Calau, Welch, Puce, Lefebvre, and "Lake à Mousse."
