Taylor Cummings (born June 2, 1994) is a famous lacrosse midfielder. She used to play for the University of Maryland's women's lacrosse team. Taylor won the Tewaaraton Trophy three times, in 2014, 2015, and 2016. This award goes to the best college lacrosse player in the country. Many people thought she was the best female college lacrosse player around.
Taylor helped the Maryland Terrapins win two big National Championships. They won in 2014 and again in 2015. In 2015, she was even nominated for a special award called the Best Female College Athlete ESPY Award. She was also part of the U.S. National team from 2015 to 2016.
Taylor finished her college lacrosse career at Maryland in 2016. She was a senior captain. Her team had a perfect season without any losses. But they lost the NCAA National Championship game to the Carolina Tar Heels. While at Maryland, Taylor made history. She was the first person to win the Honda Sports Award three times for women's lacrosse. This award goes to the top player in a Division I college.

Early Life
Taylor Cummings grew up in Ellicott City, Maryland. Her parents are Carol and Michael Cummings. Her dad, Michael, played soccer at the College of William and Mary. Taylor has a younger sister, Kelsey, who also plays lacrosse for the University of Maryland.
Taylor went to the McDonogh School. This is a private school in Owing Mills, Maryland. While there, she helped her school's lacrosse team win four state championships. Her team went undefeated in her sophomore, junior, and senior years.
Even though lacrosse was her main sport, Taylor played three different sports. She won two state championships in soccer and one in basketball. At McDonogh, she was also a great student. She was on the honor roll and made the dean's list.

College Career
In her last year of high school, Taylor decided to play for the University of Maryland's women's lacrosse team. She was considered the best new player in the country. She plays in the midfield position.
Freshman Year (2013)
In her first year, Taylor scored 43 goals and had 14 assists. She also had the most "draw controls" on her team (94). She picked up 28 ground balls and caused 21 turnovers, which means she took the ball from opponents.
Sophomore Year (2014)
Taylor won the Tewaaraton Trophy in her second year. She was the youngest woman to win this award. It meant she was the most amazing college lacrosse player. She started in all 24 games. She had the most draw controls on her team with 128. She also scored 63 goals. Taylor was second on her team in assists (24) and points (87). She also had 37 ground balls and caused 30 turnovers. In Maryland's National Championship win against Syracuse University, she scored three goals (a "hat trick") and had 1 assist.
Junior Year (2015)
Taylor won the Tewaaraton Trophy again in 2015! She was the top player in the country with 100 points. She was also one of the best in the nation for draw controls, goals, and points per game. Taylor led her team in assists (37), points (100), ground balls (41), draw controls (143), and caused turnovers (36). She started in all 22 games. In Maryland's National Championship win against the University of North Carolina, she scored three goals, had 2 assists, and made 7 draw controls.
Professional Career
After graduating from Maryland, Taylor joined the Baltimore Ride in 2016. She played her first game on June 10, 2016. Later, she played for the New York Fight in the Women's Professional Lacrosse League. Taylor also played in the first season of Athletes Unlimited lacrosse. She won the title of the first Athletes Unlimited lacrosse champion!
Team USA
Taylor was part of the U.S. team in the 2022 World Lacrosse Women's World Championship. She helped her team win a gold medal by beating Canada 11-8. Taylor was named the Tournament MVP and was chosen for the All-World Team.
