Taylor Dayne (born Leslie Wunderman; March 7, 1962) is an American singer and actress. She became famous after her first two albums, Tell It to My Heart and Can't Fight Fate, sold millions of copies. Taylor Dayne had seven songs reach the Top 10 in the U.S., including "Tell It to My Heart" and "Love Will Lead You Back". She has sold over 75 million albums and singles around the world. She has also been nominated for several Grammy Awards and won an American Music Award. Both Rolling Stone and Billboard magazines have named her one of the most successful dance artists ever.

Her Early Life
Taylor Dayne was born Leslie Wunderman in Manhattan, New York City. She lived in The Bronx for a short time before her family moved to Long Island when she was two years old. After finishing high school in Baldwin, Nassau County, New York, she started singing professionally. She performed in rock bands like Felony and Next. Later, she began singing on her own. Before she became famous, she released two dance songs, "I'm The One You Want" (1985) and "Tell Me Can You Love Me" (1986), under the name "Les Lee".
Becoming a Star
Taylor Dayne signed with Arista Records and chose the stage name "Taylor Dayne". Her first big hit was the dance-pop song "Tell It to My Heart", released in 1987. This song quickly became a worldwide success, reaching the Top 5 in many countries and even No. 1 in some. Taylor Dayne was nominated for a Grammy Award for this song.
Her next song, "Prove Your Love", also became a Top 10 hit in the U.S. and reached No. 1 on the Dance Club Songs chart. It was also popular overseas.
In 1988, her first album, Tell It to My Heart, was released. It included more hit songs like "I'll Always Love You" and "Don't Rush Me". The album sold over two million copies in the United States.
Her second album, Can't Fight Fate, came out in 1989 and was also a huge success. It featured hit singles such as "With Every Beat of My Heart", "I'll Be Your Shelter", and "Love Will Lead You Back". "Love Will Lead You Back" became a No. 1 hit on both the Billboard Hot 100 and the Adult Contemporary charts. Many people consider it one of her most famous songs.
In the 1990s, Taylor Dayne released two more albums. Her cover of Barry White's song "Can't Get Enough of Your Love" (from her 1993 album Soul Dancing) was a Top 20 hit in the U.S. and reached No. 2 in Australia. She also helped write the song "Whatever You Want" for Tina Turner's 1996 album.
Later Career and Acting
Taylor Dayne also became an actress. She appeared in the TV series Nightman in 1997. She also had roles in movies like Fool's Paradise (1997) and Love Affair (1994). She was also a regular on the TV show Rude Awakening.
In 2001, Taylor Dayne performed on Broadway in Elton John's musical Aida. In 2005, she was featured in the VH1 series Remaking, which showed her return to music after taking time to have a family. She has two children, twins Astaria and Levi, born in 2003.
In 2007, she released the song "Beautiful", which went to No. 1 on the Billboard Dance Charts. Her fifth album, Satisfied, came out in 2008. That same year, she performed at the Paralympic Games in Beijing, China.
In 2010, Taylor Dayne released "Facing a Miracle", which was the official theme song for the 2010 Gay Games. She performed the song for a large audience in Germany.
She released a new single, "Floor on Fire", in 2011, which also reached the Top 10 on the Billboard Dance/Club Charts. In 2014, she released another single called "Dreaming".
In late 2020, Taylor Dayne competed on The Masked Singer as "Popcorn". She made it to the semi-finals of the competition. In 2022, she also competed on RuPaul's Secret Celebrity Drag Race under the drag name Electra Owl.
Personal Life
Taylor Dayne has never married. She has two children, twins Astaria and Levi, who were born in 2003. She supports same-sex marriage and has said that the LGBT community is her most loyal fanbase. Taylor Dayne is Jewish. She grew up in Baldwin and Freeport, New York on Long Island.
