Telesforo de Monzón y Ortiz de Urruela (born December 1, 1904, in Bergara, Spain – died March 9, 1981, in Bayonne, France) was an important writer, politician, and leader from the Basque Country.

He was a key figure in the Basque Nationalist Party during a time called the Spanish Second Republic and the Spanish Civil War. After the war ended, he had to leave his home and live in exile for over 40 years.

When he returned to the Southern Basque Country, he became very important in the movement for Basque independence. This means he worked to help the Basque region become more independent. He also helped start a political group called Herri Batasuna.

In 1979, he was chosen to be a member of the Spanish Congress of Deputies. This is like being a representative in a country's main government. He represented the Gipuzkoa Province, just as he had done from 1932 to 1936. He served until March 1980, when he decided to leave the parliament. In 1980, he was also chosen to be part of the Basque parliament, which is the government for the Basque region itself. He passed away in March 1981 and was buried in his hometown of Bergara.
