A Look Back: History of Temple Hill
The Post Office Story
Long ago, on February 26, 1839, the first post office opened here. It was called "Skeggs Creek" back then. Benjamin M. Payne was the very first postmaster, which is the person in charge of the post office.
Later, in 1858, the name of the post office was changed to "Temple Hill." This post office served the community for many years. However, it eventually closed down in December 1934.

This huge yard sale event stretches along KY 63, from Tompkinsville all the way to Glasgow. It also includes parts of other roads like Kentucky Route 90, U.S. Route 127, and several Tennessee State Routes.
The event covers eight counties in southern Kentucky and northeastern Middle Tennessee. It's called the "Roller Coaster" yard sale because of how long and winding the route is! This exciting event happens every year during the first weekend of October.
