The Journey of Ten Mile Creek

Every river or stream starts somewhere, and that place is called its headwaters. For Ten Mile Creek, its journey begins in the eastern part of Macon County. This starting point is found near Missouri Route K, between the towns of Ten Mile and Redman.

From its source, Ten Mile Creek flows generally towards the east and southeast. As it travels, it reaches western Shelby County. Here, its waters are held back by a dam, forming a lake known as Daniel Boone Lake. This lake is located just north of the town of Clarence, near U.S. Route 36.

After flowing out from below the dam, the creek passes under Missouri Route 151. It then continues its path eastward for about five more miles. Finally, Ten Mile Creek reaches its confluence, which is the point where two rivers or streams join together. For Ten Mile Creek, this is where it meets and merges with the North Fork Salt River.
