Building History: How Ten Thousand Was Built

Before the Ten Thousand building was here, the land was home to an office building built in 1970. Even before that, there was a famous restaurant called Jimmy's. Many well-known people and local leaders used to hang out there.

Buying the Land for a New Building

After the old buildings were taken down in the early 2000s, this piece of land became very valuable. Many different companies wanted to buy it. A company named SunCal Cos first won the chance to buy it. However, they faced money problems in 2008.

Later, in 2010, the land was bought by Crescent Heights for $59 million. A big bank, the Bank of China, helped Crescent Heights by lending them $390 million. This money was used to help build the skyscraper.

Construction and Opening

Building work on Ten Thousand started in 2014. The main construction was finished in 2016. The apartments were ready for people to rent in 2017.

In 2018, Ten Thousand received a special award called LEED Gold. This award is given by the U.S. Green Building Council. It means the building was designed and built in a way that is good for the environment.

Design and Cool Features
