About the Volcano
Peaks and Craters
Tenorio Volcano is made up of four main volcanic peaks. It also has two craters that are very close together, like twins. One of these craters is sometimes called the Montezuma Volcano.
The entire volcano area covers about 225 square kilometers. That's a lot of land!
Different Types of Forests
As you go up the volcano, you'll see different types of forests:
- At the lowest parts, there's a savanna. This is like a grassland with scattered trees.
- In the middle areas, you'll find a rain forest. These forests are full of tall trees and get a lot of rain.
- At the very top, there's a cloud forest. These forests are often covered in mist and clouds, making them feel magical.
Rivers from the Volcano
Several important rivers start their journey from Tenorio Volcano. These include the Tenorio River, the Tenorito River, and the Martirio River. They flow down the volcano's slopes.
