Tepalcatepec, also known as Tepeque, is a city and a municipality in the state of Michoacán, Mexico. It is located in the southwestern part of the state, in a region called Tierra Caliente. The municipality shares its borders with the state of Jalisco to the north and west.

Animals in Tepalcatepec
One special animal found only in Tepalcatepec is the Michoacán club-tail iguana. Its scientific name is Ctenosaura clarki. This type of iguana lives in dry, hot areas. It prefers rocky hillsides that are covered with cactus plants.
