Terenci Moix (real name Ramon Moix i Meseguer) was a Spanish writer. He was born in Barcelona, Spain, on January 5, 1942. He wrote in both Spanish and Catalan. Terenci Moix was also the brother of the writer Ana Maria Moix. He passed away in Barcelona on April 2, 2003.

Life and Early Works

Terenci Moix taught himself to write. His first book, La torre de los vicios capitales (which means The Tower of Capital Vices), came out in 1968. Many of his early books questioned the ideas and rules of his time. He wanted people to think differently about how society worked.

In 1990, he wrote a special book for children called Los Grandes Mitos del Cine. This book was also known as "The Greatest Stories of Hollywood Cinema." It was illustrated by Willi Glasauer. The book is full of fun facts and information about classic Hollywood movies and stars. It includes films like Casablanca, Gone with the Wind, and Cleopatra.

Terenci Moix also wrote for several newspapers. These included Tele-Exprés, Tele-Estel, and El País. He often appeared on TV shows to share his thoughts.

Awards and Recognition

Terenci Moix won important awards for his writing. In 1992, he received the Ramon Llull Novel Award for his book El sexe dels àngels. This is a very respected prize for novels.

In 1996, he was the first person to win the Fernando Lara Novel Award. He won it for a book that had not even been published yet, called El amargo don de la belleza.

After his death, a special literature prize was created in his name. It is called the Terenci Moix Fundación Arena de Narrativa Gay y Lésbica. This award celebrates new writers.
