María Teresa Táboas Veleiro (born in 1961 in Mexico City, Mexico) is a talented architect, a university professor, and a Galician politician. She was an important part of the Galician government. From 2005 to 2009, she served as the Conselleira of House and Real Estate for the Board of Galicia. In 2009, she was chosen as a deputy (a representative) in the Galician Parliament. She held this position until February 2012.

About Teresa Táboas
Early Life and Education
Teresa Táboas was born in Ciudad de México in 1961. Her parents were Spanish immigrants from Carballiño and Beariz. She is the oldest of four children in her family.
After finishing her early schooling, she decided to study architecture. She was lucky to have the famous architect Luis Barragán as her mentor. She earned her degree from the Autonomous National University of Mexico.
Starting Her Career
After graduating, Teresa moved back to Spain. She worked for six years in the office of another well-known architect, César Portela. Later, she spent two years working for the local government in Marín.
She continued her studies and earned her doctorate degree. Her special research project, called a thesis, was about "The Colour in Architecture." Her work was supervised by César Portela, and she received a very high grade for it.
In 1990, Teresa left Portela's studio to start her own company. It was called "Teresa Táboas Estudio de Arquitectura." Through her own studio, she worked on many different projects. These included designing buildings and planning urban areas (cities and towns).
Leading in Architecture
From 1999 to 2003, Teresa was the President of the Pontevedra branch of the Colegio Oficial de Arquitectos de Galicia. This is a professional group for architects in Galicia. On May 15, 2003, she made history by becoming the first woman to be the Dean and President of the main COAG organization.
She also became a consultant for the Superior Council of Spanish Architects. She was only the second woman to hold this important position since the group started in 1931. Teresa has also been part of special groups that advise on sustainable architecture and city planning. These groups are part of the European Parliament's Architect commission. She represented the Superior Council of Spanish Architects there.
In 2006, she received a gold medal from the University of Anáhuac. This award recognized her amazing career and professional achievements. Since 2012, she has been the president of the Housing Committee of the European Architect Council. This shows her continued leadership in the field.
Teresa Táboas is also a mother to two sons.
