Terese was once a small place in Kern County, California. It is no longer a settlement today, which means people don't live there anymore.
Where Was Terese Located?
Terese was found in the Mojave Desert, a large and dry area. It was about 6 miles (9.7 km) south-southeast of a town called Inyokern.
This former settlement was also located right along the Southern Pacific Railroad tracks. The railroad was very important for travel and moving goods a long time ago. Terese was quite high up, sitting at an elevation of 2,697 feet (822 meters) above sea level.
A Look Back in Time
Terese was a place that appeared on maps for many years. It was still shown on maps as late as 1947. Over time, it stopped being a populated place. This often happens when industries change or new roads are built.
Nearby Places
Just a little bit away, about 2.5 miles (4.0 km) south-southeast of Terese, there was a spot called Terese Siding. A "siding" is a short section of railroad track. It runs off the main line and is used for trains to wait or pass each other.
