Terry Sims (born around 1971) is an American college football coach. A college football coach helps train and guide a team of student-athletes who play football at a university or college. Sims was the head football coach for Bethune–Cookman University from 2015 to 2022. After the 2022 season, his time as head coach at Bethune–Cookman came to an end.

Terry Sims' Coaching Journey
Terry Sims has had a long career in college football. He started as a player himself. He played as a Defensive back for the Knoxville Bulldogs around 1993. After his playing days, he moved into coaching.
Early Coaching Roles
Sims began his coaching career in 1994 with the Knoxville Bulldogs. He then worked as a graduate assistant at Louisville in 1995. A graduate assistant is someone who helps coaches while also studying for a higher degree. From 1997 to 1999, he coached running backs at Austin Peay.
Coaching Defensive Backs
Terry Sims spent several years coaching defensive backs. These are players who try to stop the opposing team from catching passes. He coached defensive backs at Texas Southern from 2000 to 2003. In 2004, he moved to Prairie View A&M to coach the same position.
Special Teams and Running Backs
From 2005 to 2006, Sims coached at Louisiana–Lafayette. There, he was in charge of special teams and running backs. Special teams are units that play during kickoffs, punts, and field goals.
More Defensive Roles
Sims continued to coach defensive backs and special teams at Howard from 2007 to 2009. He also took on a role as a recruiting coordinator, helping to find new players for the team.
Head Coach at Bethune–Cookman
Terry Sims became the head football coach at Bethune–Cookman University in 2015. This was a big step in his career. As a head coach, he was responsible for the entire football program.
Achievements as Head Coach
In his first year as head coach in 2015, Sims led the Bethune–Cookman Wildcats to a great season. They won the MEAC championship. This achievement also earned him the MEAC Coach of the Year award. His team finished that season with an impressive record of 9 wins and only 2 losses.
Later Years at Bethune–Cookman
Sims continued to coach Bethune–Cookman until 2022. During his time there, the team had some good seasons. For example, in 2017, they had 7 wins and 4 losses. In 2018, they also had 7 wins and 5 losses. His overall record as head coach at Bethune–Cookman was 38 wins and 39 losses.
Moving to a New Role
After his time as head coach at Bethune–Cookman, Terry Sims took on a new role. Since 2023, he has been the Director of Football Operations at Alabama State. In this role, he helps manage the day-to-day activities of the football program.
