Teruel (in Catalan it's called Terol) is a province located in Aragon, which is in the northeast part of Spain. The main city and capital of the province is also called Teruel.
This province shares its borders with several other provinces. To the east, it borders Tarragona and Castellón. To the south, it borders Valencia, which includes a small part called Rincón de Ademuz that is separate from the rest of Valencia. To the west, it borders Cuenca and Guadalajara. Finally, to the north, it borders Zaragoza.

Teruel Province covers a large area of about 14,809 square kilometers (that's about 5,718 square miles). This makes it one of the larger provinces in Spain.
Population and People
In 2018, about 134,572 people lived in Teruel Province. A big part of this population, about a quarter, lives in the capital city of Teruel. This means that many areas of the province are not very crowded. The population density is about 9.36 people per square kilometer. People from Teruel are called Turolense.
Languages Spoken
The main language spoken throughout Teruel Province is Spanish. It is the official language. However, in some parts of the northeast, especially near the border with Catalonia, people also speak Catalan. Catalan is not an official language in Teruel Province, but it is part of the local culture in those areas.
