Teruki Tabata (田畑 輝樹, Tabata Teruki, born April 16, 1979) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a defender. After his time in regular football, he became a well-known player in beach soccer for Japan.
Football Playing Career
Teruki Tabata was born in Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan, on April 16, 1979. After finishing high school, he joined a football club called Albirex Niigata in 1998. At that time, the club was part of the Japan Football League.
In 1999, his club, Albirex Niigata, moved up to a new and higher league called J2 League. Even though his team was doing well, Teruki Tabata did not get to play in many matches. He decided to stop playing football at the end of the 1999 season.
Beach Soccer Career
In 2007, Teruki Tabata was chosen to play for the Japan national beach soccer team. Beach soccer is a type of football played on sand. He became a very important player for the team.
He played in the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup seven times! This is a big international tournament for beach soccer. He played in the World Cup in these years:
