Tessa was born in Annemasse, a town in Haute-Savoie, France. Her father, Steve, is from Australia, and her mother, Madeleine, is French. This means Tessa has citizenship in both France and Australia.

She grew up skiing all year round. She would ski in France during one part of the year and then in New Zealand during another. Her home ski area is the resort of Le Grand-Bornand.

Her Skiing Journey

Tessa started her journey in the World Cup when she was just 16 years old. This was in February 2006. In her very first race, a giant slalom in Germany, she finished in 29th place.

By October 2008, she was already showing her talent. She came in fifth place in a giant slalom race in Austria. Just one month later, she won her very first World Cup race in giant slalom in the United States. This was also her first time finishing in the top three (a "podium" finish).

Winning Gold Medals

The 2011 season was amazing for Tessa. She won three giant slalom races in a row! In February of that year, she won a gold medal at the World Championships in Germany. This was for the team event. She also won a bronze medal in the giant slalom at the same championships.

Two years later, at the 2013 World Championships in Austria, Tessa was even better. She won both parts of the giant slalom race. This made her a world champion!

Dealing with Injuries

After winning her eighth World Cup race, Tessa had a tough time. In December 2013, she got injured during a slalom race in France. She had a serious knee injury that stopped her from competing for the rest of the 2014 World Cup season. This injury also meant she couldn't go to the 2014 Winter Olympics.
