The Alien Story
There are six different aliens you can collect. At first, three were thought to be good. The other three were considered bad.
The good aliens came from a planet called Naratuko. Their home world was dying. They turned themselves into tiny babies to escape. They kept their smart brains. They traveled across space. They hoped to find someone to help them grow up again.
The bad aliens destroyed Naratuko. They chased the good aliens through the universe. They did not want them to get away.
Later, in 2011, a secret was revealed. It turned out all the original aliens were actually evil! Even the ones thought to be good. The truly good aliens were from the Test Tube Aliens X series. The evil aliens wanted to be sold in test tubes. This way, if they looked dead, people might throw them out. Then, they could take over Earth's rivers and seas. After this, new "Pure Evil" aliens were released.
What Are Test Tube Aliens?
Each toy comes in a clear plastic tube. It is about 18 centimeters tall. Inside is a white cocoon. This cocoon is like a 'chrysalis'. When you add water, the cocoon slowly dissolves. Then, a tiny alien appears! The alien's heart starts to beat. You can see this as colored flashes from its head. This means your alien is "alive."
For the first few days, you must feed your alien. You mix a white powder called 'Sloog' with water. You pour this into the tube. After these first feedings, your alien can live on plain tap water.
To keep your alien healthy, it needs a routine. It needs 12 hours of light each day. It also needs 12 hours of darkness. If it gets too much light, its heartbeat speeds up. If it stays in the dark too long, its heartbeat becomes uneven.
Your alien also tells you about its water level. It flashes green if the water is too high. This means it is "drowning." It flashes orange if the water is too low. This means it is "thirsty."
If you do not care for your alien, it will eventually die. Some aliens have lived for seven to nine months.
How the Toy Works
The alien's body contains a special material. It is called Polyacrylamide. This material soaks up water. It makes the alien's body grow much bigger. It can expand up to eight times its original size! The 'Sloog' powder has a weak acid. This acid slows down the growth. This makes the alien appear to grow over several days.
The alien can sense the acid. It uses tiny sensors called electrodes. These are on its antenna and head. These sensors also check the water level. The water must be between these two sensors for the alien to be healthy.
The aliens could also connect to a website. The alien's head has a light detector. This detector responded to flashes from the website. You could make your alien go into a "coma" or "panic." You could also check its age and health online. However, the official website is no longer active.
