Tetsu Nagasawa (長澤 徹, born May 28, 1968) is a well-known Japanese football player and coach. He used to play as a midfielder. Today, he is the manager of J2 League club RB Omiya Ardija.

Tetsu Nagasawa's Football Playing Career

Tetsu Nagasawa was born in Osaka Prefecture on May 28, 1968. He grew up in Matsuyama, Ehime. After finishing his studies at the University of Tsukuba, he joined a football club called Yamaha Motors in 1991. This club later became known as Júbilo Iwata.

Nagasawa played as a midfielder and sometimes as a right-back. In 1993, his team finished second in their league. This great result meant they were promoted to the J1 League, which is Japan's top football league.

However, in 1994, he didn't get to play as much. In 1995, he moved to another team, Honda, which played in the Japan Football League. At Honda, he became a regular player and played in many games until 1996. He stopped playing football professionally at the end of the 1997 season.

Tetsu Nagasawa's Coaching Journey

After he stopped playing, Tetsu Nagasawa started his coaching career. He began coaching at Honda in 1998. In 2001, he moved to FC Tokyo. There, he worked as a coach for the main team and also managed the youth team until 2011.

In 2012, he went back to his old club, Júbilo Iwata, to be a coach. In May 2013, the main manager was let go because of poor results. Nagasawa stepped in as a temporary manager, called a "caretaker manager." He led the team for a few matches until a new manager was hired.

In 2014, Nagasawa moved to J2 League club Fagiano Okayama as a coach. The next year, in 2015, he became the main manager for Fagiano Okayama. Under his leadership, the team achieved its best result ever in 2016, finishing in 6th place. He managed Fagiano until the end of the 2018 season. In 2019, he returned to FC Tokyo as a coach. He also managed the FC Tokyo U-23 team.
