Tetsu Nagasawa was born in Osaka Prefecture on May 28, 1968. He grew up in Matsuyama, Ehime. After finishing his studies at the University of Tsukuba, he joined a football club called Yamaha Motors in 1991. This club later became known as Júbilo Iwata.
Nagasawa played as a midfielder and sometimes as a right-back. In 1993, his team finished second in their league. This great result meant they were promoted to the J1 League, which is Japan's top football league.
However, in 1994, he didn't get to play as much. In 1995, he moved to another team, Honda, which played in the Japan Football League. At Honda, he became a regular player and played in many games until 1996. He stopped playing football professionally at the end of the 1997 season.
