Who Started Teuscher?
The company was started in 1932 by a person named Dolf Teuscher, Sr. Today, his son, Dolf Teuscher, Jr., runs the business. It is still a family-run company.
Where Can You Find Teuscher?
Besides their shops in Zürich, Teuscher also has stores in other cities around the world. You can find them in Geneva, Switzerland, and in many cities in the United States. These include New York City, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, Portland, San Francisco, and Beverly Hills. They also have stores in Seoul, South Korea, and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.
What Kinds of Sweets Do They Make?
Teuscher makes over 200 different kinds of candies and baked goods by hand. They are famous for their special chocolates called Champagne Truffles. These were the first of their kind ever made!
Famous Champagne Truffles
The Champagne Truffles are made with real champagne and a creamy butter filling. This is covered in a dark cream called ganache, which uses 66% dark chocolate. Each truffle is then covered in milk chocolate and dusted with powdered sugar. Some are covered in dark chocolate and dusted with unsweetened cocoa powder.
More Than Just Chocolates
In Switzerland, chocolate makers often also make pastries. Teuscher is no different! They create a wide variety of pastries and cookies. Besides truffles, they also make pralines (nutty chocolates), marzipan (a sweet made from almonds), and many other treats.
Teuscher also makes dark chocolate bars. These bars come in different strengths, from 55% dark chocolate all the way up to 99% dark chocolate. The percentages go up by 11% each time.
