Rabbi David Tevele Schiff was a very important Jewish leader. He was the Chief Rabbi of Great Britain and the main rabbi at the Great Synagogue of London. He held this important job from 1765 until he passed away in 1791.

Rabbi David Tevele Schiff was born a long time ago. He became a very respected Jewish scholar and leader. A "Chief Rabbi" is like the main religious leader for a group of Jewish communities or a whole country. Rabbi Schiff was the top Jewish leader for Great Britain. He also led the Great Synagogue of London, which was a very important synagogue in London.

His Teachers and Students

Rabbi Schiff learned from some very wise teachers. One of his teachers was Rabbi Jacob Joshua Falk. Rabbi Falk wrote a famous book about the Talmud, which is a central text in Judaism.

Rabbi Schiff also lived at the same time as another famous rabbi, Yechezkel Landau. Rabbi Landau was the Chief Rabbi of Prague. He wrote important religious books too.

Where He is Buried

Rabbi Schiff's resting place is in London. He is buried in Britain's first Ashkenazi Jewish cemetery. This cemetery was created after Jewish people were allowed to return to England in medieval times. You can find it at 27 Alderney Road in London's East End.
