What is the Texas Star Flyer?

The Texas Star Flyer is a giant swing ride. Riders sit in seats that hang from long chains. These chains are attached to a spinning top part of a tall tower. As the ride goes up, the seats swing outwards.

How the Ride Works

You will soar in a big circle, about 98-foot (30 m) wide. The ride spins at speeds over 43 miles per hour (69 km/h). You will be high up on a 230-foot (70 m) tall tower. From the top, you can see amazing views of the park and the Gulf of Mexico. The ride can even go forwards and backwards!

Similar Rides in Texas

The Texas Star Flyer is much like the SkyScreamer rides. You can find SkyScreamer rides at several Six Flags parks. For example, there is one at Six Flags Fiesta Texas in the same state.

When it first opened, the Texas Star Flyer was the tallest swing ride in Texas. However, a new ride called the Texas SkyScreamer opened in May 2013 at Six Flags Over Texas. That ride became the new tallest swing ride in the state.
