The Annotated Alice is a special book from 1960. It was created by Martin Gardner. This book contains the full text of two famous stories by Lewis Carroll: Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (from 1865) and Through the Looking-Glass (from 1871). It also includes all the original drawings by John Tenniel.
What makes this book unique are its many helpful notes, called "annotations." These notes explain things that might be hard to understand today. They tell you about old poems from the Victorian era that Lewis Carroll was making fun of. The notes also explain math ideas and clever word games. They even describe old traditions, like the game "snap-dragons," which people played long ago.
