LaSalle College Vancouver used to be called The Art Institute of Vancouver. In 2017, the LCI Education Network bought the school. After that, its name changed to LaSalle College Vancouver.

The Art Institute of Vancouver first opened in 1979. It was originally called the Center for Digital Imaging and Sound (CDIS). It was located in Burnaby. The school's cooking program, called the International Culinary School, started in 1982. It was first known as Dubrulle International Culinary & Hotel Institute of Canada.

Since 2010, all the school's programs have been at its current location. This is the new Renfrew Campus in Vancouver.

The Art Institute of Vancouver, now LaSalle College Vancouver, offers many courses. These include Visual Effects, Animation, and Recording Arts. You can also study Baking & Pastry Arts, Culinary Arts, and Music Production. Other subjects are Digital Film & Video, Graphic Design, Interior Design, and Fashion Design. They also teach Game Art & Design and Game Programming. Since 2009, the school has offered a bachelor's degree in Graphic Design.

Game Art & Design Program

The Game Art & Design program is very popular. In 2005, over 200 students were in this program. It was an 18-month diploma course.

In 2006, the school worked with the International Game Developers Association. They also partnered with the video game company Electronic Arts (EA). Together, they hosted a festival called ARTmageddon. This event was for people in the game industry. Teachers and students from the school have been interviewed about game design. They have shared their ideas with publications like the Vancouver Courier.
