The Barnstormer at RCDB

The Barnstormer is a fun junior ride at the Magic Kingdom park. You can find it in the Storybook Circus area of Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. This exciting coaster is now known as The Barnstormer featuring the Great Goofini. It replaced an older version called The Barnstormer at Goofy's Wiseacre Farm in 2011.

History of The Barnstormer Ride

The area where The Barnstormer now stands has a cool history. It wasn't always a roller coaster!

From Petting Farm to Roller Coaster Fun

Before the roller coaster, this spot was home to Grandma Duck's Petting Farm. This was a petting zoo where you could meet farm animals. One famous animal there was Minnie Moo, a cow with a special Hidden Mickey shape on her side! In 1996, the petting zoo closed. Minnie Moo moved to another part of Disney World. The barn from the petting zoo was even used in the first version of The Barnstormer ride.

After the petting farm closed, construction began on a new junior roller coaster. It was named The Barnstormer at Goofy's Wiseacre Farm. This ride opened on October 1, 1996, in an area called Mickey's Toontown Fair.

The ride was designed to look like an airplane school run by Goofy. Guests would hop into Goofy's homemade biplane. The plane would swoop, twist, and turn. Then, it would zoom right into a barn! Inside the barn, there were cool Audio-Animatronic chickens. These chickens used to be part of an attraction at Epcot called World of Motion. You could even find a Hidden Mickey made of wires in the ride's waiting line.

This version of the ride closed on February 12, 2011. It was part of a big plan to make Fantasyland even bigger and better!

The Great Goofini's Barnstormer (2011–Present)

From 2011 to 2014, Magic Kingdom's Fantasyland got a huge makeover. Mickey's Toontown Fair closed for good. Some parts were taken down, and others were changed into a new area called Storybook Circus.

The Barnstormer at Goofy's Wiseacre Farm was updated and renamed. It became The Barnstormer featuring the Great Goofini. The new Storybook Circus area, including the updated Barnstormer, opened in early 2012.

If you look closely at the back of the entrance sign, you might spot a fun secret. There are red jumbled letters that spell "Wiseacre Farm." This is a special nod to the ride's original name and the old Mickey's Toontown Fair!

Your Ride on The Barnstormer
