The California Raisin Show was a fun animated TV series from 1989. It was based on the super popular The California Raisins characters. These characters were famous for their claymation commercials. Claymation is a special way of animating using clay models.
The show followed the adventures of a musical group called The California Raisins. They lived in a world filled with talking fruits and vegetables. The main characters were A.C. (the singer), Beebop (on drums), Stretch (playing bass), and Red (on guitar and piano). Every episode featured cool musical songs.
Before the TV show, there was a special called Meet the Raisins! in 1988. After the show finished its 13 episodes, another special, Raisins: Sold Out!: The California Raisins II, came out in 1990.
About the Show
The California Raisins characters were usually made with claymation. But for this TV show, they used a different animation style. It was called cel animation. This means animators drew each picture by hand.
Even with the new animation style, Will Vinton was still involved. He was the creative director and executive producer. He helped make sure the show looked and felt like the original characters. The show aired on the CBS network.
