The Classen is a tall building in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. It used to be called the Citizens Bank Tower. This building is a residential high-rise, which means people live in apartments there. It's located near cool areas like the Paseo Arts District and the Asian District.
The Classen building has 21 floors and stands 287 feet (about 87 meters) tall. It is one of the tallest residential buildings in Oklahoma City. In 2010, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. This means it's an important historical site.
The building was finished in 1967. It was first built as the main office for a bank called Citizens National Bank. Later, it was updated and changed into apartments for people to rent.
The Classen: A Look Back in Time
The Classen building, originally known as the Citizens Bank Tower, is a very special building in Oklahoma City. It has a unique shape, like a hexagon, and looks very slim. It also has cool sunscreens and a fancy top.
This building was one of the first tall office buildings built outside of downtown Oklahoma City. It helped set the style for other big, standalone skyscrapers in the suburbs. Robert Roloff, one of the architects, designed it. He wanted it to be a tribute to another famous architect, Frank Lloyd Wright, and his Price Tower in Oklahoma.
Even though it was once an office building, the inside has been changed. Now, it has modern apartments for people to live in. The Citizens Bank Tower was officially added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 8, 2010. This was a big deal, and it was even featured on the National Park Service's weekly list of important places.
