The Death-Defying Pepper Roux is an exciting children's book written by British author Geraldine McCaughrean. It was first published in 2009 and then in 2010. This adventure story is set in France.
Discovering Pepper Roux's Story
This book tells the story of a boy named Pepper Roux. He was told he would die when he turned fourteen years old. But when his fourteenth birthday comes and goes, Pepper is still alive! He starts to wonder if the prophecy was true.
Pepper decides to run away from home. On his journey, he meets many strange characters. Some seem like 'angels' and others like 'devils'. But none of them seem to be there to take his life. Pepper begins to think that maybe the prophecy was a lie all along.
Pepper is a trusting and innocent boy. He faces many dangers and exciting adventures. He keeps an eye out for angels, but also enjoys the amazing experience of being alive.
Awards and Recognition
