The Dirt Bike Kid is a fun movie from 1985. It was directed by Hoite Caston and written by David Brandes and Lewis Colick. The film stars Peter Billingsley, Stuart Pankin, Anne Bloom, Patrick Collins, and Danny Breen.

The story is about a boy who finds a special dirt bike. This bike is magical and seems to have a mind of its own! Part of the movie's idea was inspired by the classic fairy tale Jack and the Beanstalk.

Story of The Dirt Bike Kid

Jack Simmons (Peter Billingsley) lives with his mom (Anne Bloom). One day, his mom gives him their last $50 to buy groceries. But Jack sees a cool Yamaha dirt bike for sale. He decides to buy it from a kid named Max (Gavin Allen) instead of the groceries.

Jack quickly realizes that this motorcycle is not just any bike. It seems to be alive and can move on its own! When his mom finds out, she is very upset. She takes the bike and sells it to a local shop owner, Mr. Zak (Al Evans), to get her $50 back.

But the magic bike has other plans! It secretly returns to Jack's house in the middle of the night. Jack tells Mr. Zak about the bike's return. Mr. Zak agrees that Jack can work off his debt by using the bike to make deliveries for the shop.

Saving The Doghouse

Jack also plays on a Little League baseball team. The team is sponsored by a hot dog restaurant called The Doghouse. The owner, Mike (Patrick Collins), was a good friend of Jack's dad. Mike tries to help Jack after his dad passed away.

The Doghouse is having big money problems. A local banker, Mr. Hodgkins (Stuart Pankin), wants to buy the land where The Doghouse is. He plans to tear it down and build another Hodgkins Bank there.

One of Mr. Hodgkins's bank tellers is Mazie Clavell (Sage Parker). She also coaches the rival Little League team. Mazie later quits her job because she sees Mr. Hodgkins as a very tough businessman. She starts dating Mike, who she thinks is an honest person.

Uncovering Secrets

Jack and his friend Bo (Chad Sheets) use the magic dirt bike to find out why Mr. Hodgkins wants The Doghouse's land so badly. They look at some of the bank's computer records. They discover that the land isn't actually a good spot for a new bank. They also learn that Mr. Hodgkins isn't as rich as everyone thinks!

Mr. Hodgkins finds out that Jack is trying to save The Doghouse. He asks Max (who is on his Little League team) for help. Max then brings in a biker named Big Slime (Weasel Forshaw) and his biker friends. Jack had met them before.

The Final Showdown

Mr. Hodgkins calls the local police, led by Chief Salt (John William Galt). Chief Salt orders his police officers to take the dirt bike away. He does this because Mr. Hodgkins has a loan that Chief Salt needs help with.

But Mazie and Mike come to help Jack. They pay the fee to get his dirt bike back!

When the time comes to tear down The Doghouse, Jack shows up with his Little League team. They start a big pie fight with Max, Mr. Hodgkins, and Big Slime's biker gang! The dirt bike then takes a surprised Mr. Hodgkins for a ride with Jack driving. Jack tells Mr. Hodgkins that he knows about everyone's money problems. He has an idea that can help everyone.

A Happy Ending

One year later, everything has changed for the better! Mr. Hodgkins is dressed in a funny hot dog suit. He is celebrating the opening of a new shopping mall. The mall has a newly fixed-up Doghouse and the new Hodgkins Bank.

Bo, who used to be shy, is now popular with girls. Jack's mom has a good new job. Mike and Mazie are married and are expecting their first baby! Chief Salt now works as a security guard at the bank. Big Slime (whose real name is Arthur) has stopped being a biker and now works as a bank teller!

With everyone in the community doing well, the dirt bike's magic stops working for Jack. His mom tells him that maybe the magic was just for him, to help him out. Jack then gives the bike to another young boy. It seems the magic starts working again for the new child!
