Kartiki Gonsalves, the director, spent five years making this film. She followed a family that cares for elephants. This family belongs to the Kattunayakan tribe.

Kartiki met Raghu when he was just three months old. She spent about a year and a half with him. This was before she decided to make a documentary about him. While filming, her team also took pictures of other animals. These included leopards, tigers, and monkeys living in the reserve.

Awards and Recognition

The Elephant Whisperers has received important awards. It won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Short Film. This is a very big honor in filmmaking. Kartiki Gonsalves and Guneet Monga received this award.
