Terry Fan and Eric Fan are brothers who write and illustrate books for children. They are often called the Fan Brothers. They are known for their beautiful picture books, starting with The Night Gardener in 2016. This book was even named an important book by the American Library Association (ALA).

Who Are the Fan Brothers?

Terry and Eric Fan were born in the United States. Terry was born in Illinois, and Eric was born in Hawaii. They grew up together in Toronto, Canada. Both brothers went to OCAD University, which is a special art and design school.

They started their journey as children's book creators in 2016 with their first picture book, The Night Gardener. They wrote the story and drew all the pictures for it. Many book reviewers, like Kirkus and Publishers Weekly, gave the book great reviews. The Night Gardener was chosen as an ALA Notable Children's Book and was also a finalist for the Cybils Award, which celebrates great children's literature.

In 2018, the Fan Brothers released another book called Ocean Meets Sky. Critics said the pictures in this book were "truly breathtaking." Ocean Meets Sky was recognized for its amazing illustrations and was shortlisted for the Kate Greenaway Medal in the UK and the Governor General's Literary Award in Canada.

The Fan Brothers also worked with their younger brother, Devin Fan, on his first book, The Barnabus Project. This book came out in 2020 and also received good reviews.
