The Forge: Lemont Quarries Adventure Park is an exciting new adventure park. It is planned to open in July 2020. You can find it in Lemont, Illinois. This town is a suburb near Chicago. The park is a special project. It is built with help from the Village of Lemont and Lemont Township. This means the local government and a private group worked together.

What to Do at The Forge
This huge park covers about 300 acres. That's like 227 football fields! It has tons of outdoor fun. You can try ziplines and ropes courses. There are also climbing towers and walls. You can even find areas for bouldering. This is a type of rock climbing.
Water and Nature Activities
The park offers many water activities. You can go fishing or try paddleboating. Kayaking is also a great option. If you love nature, there are mountain biking and hiking trails. The ropes course will be super tall. It will be over 120 feet high. That makes it the tallest in North America!
Food and Events
The Forge also plans to have adventure dining. This means you can eat in fun, unique spots. There will be a beer garden for adults. An event venue is planned for parties and gatherings. The park will even host summer camps.
Park Location and History
The park is built on old industrial land. This land used to be quarries. Quarries are places where rocks are dug out. These quarries were once used to get Lemont yellow dolomite rock. Now, they are filled with water.
Water Features
The park uses these flooded quarries as cool water features. They are called the Forge Quarry and the Great Lakes Quarries. The park is also next to the Illinois and Michigan Canal National Heritage Area. It is also near the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal.
Opening Plans
The park was first set to open on May 25, 2020. A big grand opening was planned for June 27, 2020. But, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the opening was delayed. It is now expected to open in July or later.
