A Look at Museum History

The museum has an interesting past itself. It started in 1933 as the Hershey American Indian Museum. Back then, it mainly showed items from Native American cultures. In 1935, the museum added more items. These new pieces were from the Pennsylvania German culture.

Moving to a New Home

The museum moved to a new spot in 1938. It found a bigger home in the convention hall in Hershey. Then, in 2009, the museum moved again. It went into a brand-new building. At this time, it was renamed The Hershey Story, The Museum on Chocolate Avenue. Even though it changed its name and focus, the museum still owns its Native American and Pennsylvania German collections. However, these collections are not currently on display for visitors to see.
