Holiday Fun and a Mystery Island
During their school holidays, two siblings, Jack and Lucy-Ann, go on an adventure. They bring their clever parrot, Kiki, with them. They visit their new friends, Philip and Dinah. The children stay at an old house called "Craggy-Tops." This house is on a tall cliff right by the sea. Philip and Dinah's uncle, Jocelyn, owns the house. He is a historian who loves to study the past. Their aunt Polly also lives there. A handyman named Joe helps them around the house.
The Isle of Gloom
Joe tells the boys about a mysterious place called the Isle of Gloom. They can sometimes see it from their tower room at Craggy-Tops. This island is often covered in thick fog and mist. It sounds a bit scary! Soon, the children meet a man named Bill Smugs. Bill loves birds, just like Jack. The children decide to sail their boat out to the Isle of Gloom.
Uncovering a Secret
Once on the island, the children discover a big secret. They find out that Joe, the handyman, is working with other people. These people are making fake money inside the old mines on the island. The children must be brave to stop them!
