The Little Fox, also known as Vuk in Hungary, is a popular animated film from 1981. It was made by Pannónia Filmstúdió in Hungary. The movie is based on a famous book called Vuk by István Fekete. Attila Dargay directed the film. He also helped write the story with István Imre and Ede Tarbay.

A sequel to the film, called A Fox's Tale, was released in 2008.

Story of the Little Fox

The film tells the exciting story of a young fox kit named Vic. In the original Hungarian version, his name is Vuk. One day, Vic wanders away from his family's den. When he returns, he learns sad news from his uncle, Karak. His whole family has disappeared because of a human hunter.

Karak, his kind uncle, decides to take care of Vic. He raises the little fox, teaching him how to survive.

Vic's Cleverness

As Vic grows up, he becomes very smart and cunning. He learns many tricks from his uncle. When he is a young adult fox, he even dares to sneak into the hunter's house. Inside, he finds another fox, a vixen named Foxy, trapped in a cage.

One stormy night, Vic uses his cleverness to trick the hunter's guard dogs. He also outsmarts other animals and even the hunter himself. He manages to free Foxy by breaking open her cage.

Life in the Wild

Foxy joins Vic and Karak in the peaceful woods. They live together, learning and hunting. But when autumn arrives, the hunter is out again. During a seasonal hunt, Vic's uncle Karak disappears.

Vic feels determined to outsmart the hunter. He starts by sneaking into the hunter's food storage. He eats all the eggs and takes chickens from their cages. He also plays many jokes on the hunter's two clumsy dogs. These jokes cause the dogs to become strays by the end.

Eventually, the hunter tries to catch Vic by setting up traps around his house. He uses a tasty goose roast as bait. However, his own hunting dogs fall into the traps. The third dog accidentally hurts the hunter. At the end of the film, Vic and Foxy have their own fox cubs, starting a new family in the wild.
