The Montage Reno is a tall building in Reno, Nevada. It is now a place where people live in apartments called condominiums. Before this, from 1978 to 2005, it was a hotel and casino. It had many different names over the years, like Sahara Reno, Reno Hilton, Flamingo Hilton Reno, Flamingo Reno, and Golden Phoenix Reno.
The building was changed into apartments between 2006 and 2008. It used to be connected to the Fitzgeralds Reno by a special bridge in the sky. Today, a company called ST Residential LLC owns and manages it.

Building's Past: A Look at Its History
Early Days as Sahara Reno (1978–1981)
The main hotel and casino building on North Sierra Street first opened in 1978. It was called the Sahara Reno. The Del E. Webb Corporation owned it. This company also owned the Sahara resort in Las Vegas. David Jacobson Associates designed the Sahara Reno. The Del E. Webb Corporation built it.
Before the Sahara Reno, there was a separate casino building on Virginia Street. It was called the Primadonna and operated from 1955 to 1978. Then, it became part of the Sahara. The Virginia Street building later reopened as Siri's Casino in 2014.
Changes to Hilton and Flamingo (1981–2001)
In 1981, the Sahara Reno changed its name to the Reno Hilton. It was updated in 1992 and became the Flamingo Hilton Reno.
By 2000, the Hilton company decided not to use the Flamingo name anymore. So, the Flamingo Hilton Reno simply became the Flamingo Reno. This name was like the original Flamingo brand from the 1940s in Las Vegas.
The hotel-casino had 602 rooms and made money for a while. However, its owner, Park Place Entertainment, decided it was not making enough profit. The gaming market was changing, so they closed the property on October 21, 2001. Soon after closing, Vista Hospitality LLC bought the building. They promised to fix it up and open it again.
Golden Phoenix Reno (2002–2005)
The new name, Golden Phoenix Reno, was announced in early 2002. The hotel part of the building reopened on April 2, 2002. It had 604 rooms, a Benihana steakhouse, a coffee shop, and a nightclub. The casino area opened in the summer of 2003. The movie The Cooler was filmed there before the casino's grand opening.
A real estate developer from Chicago named Fernando Leal wanted to buy the hotel-casino. He won his bid to buy it. Leal then shared his plans to turn the hotel-casino into "The Montage." This project would cost $170 million. They would strip the hotel down to its concrete frame and rebuild it as condominiums.
Leal closed the Golden Phoenix on December 6, 2005. His teams started taking apart the hotel building in the spring of 2006.
The Montage Reno Today (2008–Present)
The Montage Reno was finished in April 2008. Fernando Leal first imagined The Montage Reno as a busy apartment resort. He even had plans for a Ruth's Chris Steakhouse and another restaurant. But these plans did not work out. Because of this, Leal gave the finished project back to its lender in December 2008 to avoid financial problems.
Now, The Montage is owned by ST Residential. This company is part of Starwood Assets and Holdings, a global company based in Chicago. The building is still promoted as a condominium resort. It offers special features for its residents, like a doorman available 24 hours a day. It also has a pool deck like a resort, a lounge for owners, and high-quality finishes inside the apartments.
