The Mumbly Cartoon Show was a fun Saturday morning cartoon series. It was created by Hanna-Barbera Productions. The show was all about a cartoon dog detective named Mumbly. It aired on ABC from September 11, 1976, to September 3, 1977.
This show was part of a bigger cartoon block. It was called The Tom and Jerry/Grape Ape/Mumbly Show. Mumbly's adventures were new, while the Tom and Jerry and Grape Ape parts were reruns.
About Mumbly the Detective
Mumbly was a special private eye dog. He always wore a cool trenchcoat. He worked with a human detective named Chief Schnooker. Together, they tried to catch bad guys. These criminals often had funny names that started with the same sound.
Mumbly's voice was done by Don Messick. Chief Schnooker was voiced by John Stephenson. There were 16 episodes made for the show.
Mumbly's Other Adventures
The Mumbly Cartoon Show only lasted for one season. It wasn't a huge hit with viewers. But Mumbly didn't disappear!
In the next TV season, Mumbly joined another Hanna-Barbera show. This was a big crossover cartoon called Laff-A-Lympics. In Laff-A-Lympics, Mumbly was part of the "Really Rottens" team. This team was made up of cartoon villains. Even though Mumbly wasn't a villain in his own show, he joined this team. He took the place of another character, Muttley. Muttley was a villain from an older show called Dastardly and Muttley in Their Flying Machines. Muttley couldn't be in Laff-A-Lympics because another company partly owned his character.
Mumbly Around the World
